Central MD Air Defence Alert Force alarmed within the unannounced inspection
Today the Alert Force of the 14th Air Force and Air Defence Army, which cover administrative, industrial and military facilities of the Volga Region, the Urals, Siberia and the Baikal Region, have been alarmed within the Central MD unannounced combat readiness inspection.
MiG-31 fighter crews have flown from the airfields of Sokol (Perm Krai), Kansk (Krasnoyarsk Krai) and Tolmachevo (Novosibirsk Region) and practiced interception of aerial targets.
Combat crews of S-300PS missile systems of the air defence divisions from Samara and Novosibirsk practiced search and tracking of targeting under difficult jamming situation.
The unannounced combat readiness inspection of the Central MD started this Monday upon the order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces. All the troops and forces have been put on combat alert at 09:30 (MSK). It involves about 95 thousand servicemen, more than 7 000 pieces of military hardware and up to 170 aircraft.
The inspection will last until September 12.
