Active stage of the Combat Commonwealth 2017 CIS joint air defence exercise is over
An active phase of the Combat Commonwealth 2017 CIS joint air defence exercise took place on September 4-7 at the Ashuluk range, Astrakhan region.
More than 1,500 troops from Belarus, Russia, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan, up to 200 anti-aircraft systems, military and special hardware of the Aerospace Forces have been involved in the exercise. Fighters, bombers, assault and long-range aircraft have been redeployed from the Western and southern MD to the area to take part in the exercise.
The Tu-22M3 long-range bombers, Su-34, Su-30SM multitask fighters, MiG-31BM, Su-25SM, Su-24MP, Su-27, MiG-29SMT, and Yak-130 are used in the drills.
About 2,000 troops from Belarus, Russia, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan are taking part in the exercise.
