Su-24 practised bombing at Zapad 2017 exercise
In course of the Zapad 2017 strategic exercise, the crews of Su-24 bombers carried out precision bombing targeting mock enemy’s command posts, personnel and combat hardware at the airfield in the Kaliningrad region. The bombers performed the task at altitudes ranging from 200 m up to 2 km.
All the actions were monitored by objective control means mounted on the combat vehicles as well as on the ground in the exercise area.
Besides bombing, the crews practised combat maneuvering and air defence suppression.
On September 14, the Zapad 2017 strategic exercise kicked off involving the Russian and Belarusian (the Union State) Armed Forces.
The first three-day stage of the Zapad 2017 strategic exercise involving the Armed Forces of Russia and Belarus completed on September 16.
In course of the second stage (September 17-20) according to the scenario the regional grouping is to practise mobile defence, assuming the offensive and final defeat of the enemy.
The main practical actions will be held at the Luzhsky range (the Leningrad region) on September 18, and at the Borisovsky range (Belarus) on September 20.
