Tsentr 2019 maneuvers kick off in Armed Forces of Russian Federation

Tsentr 2019 maneuvers  is the final stage of the complex of measures for operational (combat) training of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2019, is held from September 16 to 21, in accordance with the training plan of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation under the leadership of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Federation - First Deputy Defence Minister of the Russian Federation.

In the course of Tsentr 2019 maneuvers, issues of the use of force groupings in solving the tasks of combating international terrorism and ensuring military security in the Central Asian strategic direction will be practice.

The main objectives of the strategic command post exercise are to verify the level of readiness of the military command and control units of the Central Military District, the command staff of the military contingents for command and control of an joint grouping of troops, gaining practice as commanders and staffs in command and control of troops, and increase compatibility and level of interaction in solving joint problems peacekeeping, protect interests and ensure security in the Central Asian region, a demonstration of the readiness of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the state in the Central Asian region for the protection of national interests.

Tsentr 2019 strategic command post exercise  will be held in two stages, during the first of which, the military command and control units, in the conditions created for the exercise of the conditional military-political situation, will practice command and control issues in the fight against international terrorism, repelling air strikes, and conducting reconnaissance and search and defensive actions.

During the second stage, the commanders and staffs will practice the issues of controlling units of groupings of troops when delivering a massive strike and conducting offensive operations to defeat a mock enemy.

The main actions of the troops will take place at six combined arms training grounds Totsky, Donguz, Adanak, Chebarkulsky, Yurginsky, Aleysky and the ranges of the Air Force and Air Defence Forces Ashuluk, Safakulevo on the territory of the Russian Federation. Episodes of the fight against illegal armed groups will be also conducted at the training grounds of partner states according to separate plans.

The actions of the Caspian Flotilla forces grouping will be held in the Caspian Sea in the course of assisting the land forces in the coastal area, the defence of areas of maritime economic activity.

Military command and control units and troops of the Central Military District, the Caspian Flotilla of the Southern Military District, part of the forces of the Eastern Military District, the Airborne Troops, long-range and military transport aviation of the Aerospace Forces are involved in the exercise.

To develop joint actions, the military contingents of the People’s Republic of China, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of India, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan are involved in the exercise.

The maneuvers involve in total over 128,000 servicemen, over 20,000 pieces of hardware, some 600 aircraft and up to 15 ships and vessels. Including in the practical actions of the troops at the Donguz, Totsky, Adanak training grounds in the European part of the Russian Federation, up to 12,950 servicemen will be involved (of them, military personnel of the Russian Federation - up to 10,700, foreign states - up to 2,250 people), up to 250 tanks, about 450 infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers, and up to 200 artillery systems and MLRS.
