The joint Russian-Vietnamese exercise to assist a submarine in distress will be held in the port of Cam Ranh

In the Vietnamese port of Cam Ranh, practical activities are continuing as part of the first joint Russian-Vietnamese exercise to assist the crew of an emergency submarine lying on the ground. The exercise started on December 2.

The Russian side will be represented by the Igor Belousov rescue vessel of the Pacific Fleet with Bester 1 deep-towed vehicle AS-40.

In Cam Ranh, military sailors of the two countries held a joint conference, during which they got acquainted with the tactical and technical characteristics and capabilities of the forces involved in the exercise. Military sailors of the Vietnamese Navy visited the rescue vessel Igor Belousov, and the Pacific Fleet servicemen visited the Vietnamese diesel submarine.

Before that, on the training ground of the Vietnamese Navy, the crew of the Pacific Fleet deep-towed vehicle AS-40 practiced a dive, during which the crew conducted a search operation at a depth of the mock-up of the coaming platform of the submarine, approached it and simulated docking with the submarine to provide assistance to the crew.

Today, under the plan of the exercise, submariners of the Vietnamese Navy performed the task of leaving the mock disabled diesel submarine through torpedo tubes. The Pacific Fleet specialists observed the actions of their colleagues.

The joint Russian-Vietnamese exercise will last until December 8.
