Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu made a working trip to Syria
On behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu made a working trip to Syria.
In Damascus, Sergei Shoigu was received by the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Bashar al-Assad.
During the talks, issues of ensuring a stable cessation of hostilities in the Idlib de-escalation zone, stabilizing the situation in other parts of Syria, as well as various aspects of military-technical cooperation in the joint fight against international terrorist groups were discussed.
They touched upon the issues of Russia's humanitarian assistance to the Syrian population suffering from western sanctions, as well as the restoration of the Republic's economic potential with the help of Russian specialists.
The Su-35S of the Russian Aerospace Forces provided security for the flight of the Russian Defence Minister's aircraft in the airspace of the Syrian Arab Republic.
