A column of units of the 15th separate peacekeeping brigade, who arrived to participate in the peacekeeping mission in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, made a march about 100 km long. from the area of ??concentration in the city of Goris to the city of Stepanakert.
The convoy included armored personnel carriers, motor vehicles, and means of logistical support previously delivered from the Russian Federation by Il-76 military transport aircraft to the Erebuni airfield.
The advance units of the peacekeeping brigade marched along the route Goris, Sus, Geytala, Lysogorsky pass, south-western outskirts of Shusha and began to deploy 4 observation posts in the "South" zone of responsibility.
Units of the peacekeeping contingent took control of the Lachin corridor and a section of the Lachin road - the Lysogorsky sovkhoz (state farm) with the deployment of six temporary observation posts.
In total, 10 observation posts have been deployed along the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh and the Lachin corridor.
They are charged to collect information on violations of the ceasefire regime, bring promptly this information to the command of the peacekeeping forces, as well as maintain the safety of transit traffic and suppress illegal actions against civilians. This will contribute to an early transition to a peaceful life and the return of refugees.
In the area of ??the peacekeeping operation, the military police units that are part of the peacekeeping contingent will also carry out tasks. They are charged to conduct patrols along the line of contact of the sides, escort convoys and cargo.
The peacekeeping contingent consists of contract servicemen who have undergone special training to carry out peacekeeping tasks, including studying and observing the norms of international humanitarian law in armed conflicts.
The peacekeeping contingent is equipped with modern weapons, military and special equipment, including armored personnel carriers BTR-82A, armored vehicles "Tiger" and "Typhoon".
To control the ceasefire and hostilities, a peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation is deployed in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the amount of 196 military personnel, 90 armored personnel carriers, 380 units of automobile and special equipment.
The core of the Russian contingent will be units of the 15th separate motorized rifle brigade (peacekeeping) of the Central Military District.
The departure of the Russian peacekeeping contingent from the Ulyanovsk airfield is carried out by Il-76 military transport aircraft.
In order to control compliance with the agreements by the parties to the conflict, it is planned to set up Russian observation posts along the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh and along the Lachin corridor.
