The Russian Defence Minister held a thematic conference call
Today, the National Centre for State Defence Control hosted a thematic conference call with the participation of Russian Defenсe Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu.
At the beginning of his opening speech, the head of the military department recalled that on December 1, the new training year began in the troops.
"In the course of preparation for it," said Sergei Shoigu, " about one thousand two hundred training sessions and one thousand seven hundred instructor – methodical classes were held. More than two and a half thousand objects of educational and material base have been prepared. About 30 thousand units of landfill equipment were serviced. Weapons, military and special equipment have been transferred to the winter mode of operation, and the necessary material and technical reserves have been created."
He further stated that in 2021, the intensity of combat training will continue. More than four thousand eight hundred exercises and practical events are planned. At the same time, the main attention will be focused on training of command bodies to lead subordinate military units and divisions; improving the methods of fire destruction and interspecies interaction; improving the tactical maneuverability and mobility of formations and military units; developing new methods of action of troops, taking into account the experience of local wars and armed conflicts; and fulfilling the established individual indicators by personnel.
In addition, according to the Minister, preparations will continue for the Army International Games, including two new competitions - "Tactical shooter" for army tactical shooting and "Meridian" for military topographers. A field hospital deployment competition will be held as part of the all-army competition.
Further, Sergei Shoigu said that the training period will end with a set of special exercises. The Russian-Belarusian strategic exercise "Zapad-2021", which is planned for September and is aimed at further strengthening the military security of the Union state, will be the most important event for testing the practical actions of the troops (forces).
The Defence Minister noted that strict implementation of training plans will allow maintaining a high level of combat capability of the troops and adequately responding to possible aggravations of the military-political situation.
He stressed that in order to avoid the spread of coronavirus infection, all events will be held in compliance with sanitary and epidemiological standards.
At the end of the thematic part, he raised the issue of performing the development work "Sozvezdie-2015" in the interests of the Ministry of Defence. "Within the framework of this development," the Minister said, " a promising automated tactical control system is being created. In terms of its capabilities, it will not be inferior to foreign analogues in any way, and in a number of characteristics it will even surpass them. The use of this system will improve the control of troops and increase their combat effectiveness." And he proposed to discuss the manufacture of a prototype of the product, as well as the beginning of its preliminary and state tests.
Next, he focused on the vaccination of the Armed Forces personnel against a new coronavirus infection. "I gave instructions to intensify and accelerate this work," the Minister said. – Currently, more than one and a half thousand military personnel are vaccinated every day. In order to increase the number of vaccinated people to five thousand a day, he instructed to create vaccination offices on the basis of military medical organizations and divisions and to form the necessary number of special teams for vaccination."
Then Sergey Shoigu said a few words about the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. "The introduction of Russian peacekeepers into the conflict zone has allowed normalizing the situation in the region," he said. - The terms of the signed trilateral cease-fire declaration are being observed. With the assistance of peacekeepers, the exchange of bodies between Armenia and Azerbaijan continues. More than 13,000 refugees have been returned. As of this morning – 30673 people."
In addition, Russian military personnel free the area and public roads from explosive objects. 50 hectares of territory and more than 17.5 kilometers of roadbed were cleared. More than one thousand explosive objects were defused. The Lachin corridor and 28 km sections of the route to Stepanakert have been cleared. The traffic of civil vehicles has been restored along it. Three and a half thousand vehicles were escorted. The deployment of a medical unit of the Eastern Military District, equipped with modern equipment and operating units, has been completed. Its specialists have started providing medical assistance to the personnel and local population. Cooperation has been established with the leadership of Nagorno-Karabakh, representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
At the end of his speech, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu noted that our military personnel act professionally and do everything to preserve peace in the region.
