A detachment of warships of Baltic Fleet completed an exercise with Iranian Navy and is heading to the coast of Oman

A detachment of warships of the Baltic Fleet consisting of the corvette Stoyky and the tanker Kola has completed the program of a joint Russian-Iranian naval exercise.

After the exercise, the ships and vessels involved in the active phase at sea were photographed. Then there was a farewell ceremony for the Russian and Iranian detachments, during which the ships and vessels parted on opposite courses, lining up in wake columns.

The Russian-Iranian naval exercise took place on February 15 and 16 in the Gulf of Oman and the northwestern Indian Ocean. From Iran, the frigate URO Jamaran, the corvette Nahdi, the missile boats Falakhan, Gardouneh and Tondar, the patrol ship Mahmudi, the support ship Nazeri and the supply ship Lavan took part in the event.

The Russian and Iranian sailors practiced artillery firing at a surface target, exchanging signals during the day and at night, episodes of joint maneuvering, freeing a merchant ship captured by pirates, as well as extinguishing a conditional fire on the ship.

A detachment of ships of the Baltic Fleet is currently continuing to perform the tasks of a long-distance campaign and is heading for the Omani port of Salalah.

A detachment of ships of the Baltic Fleet consisting of the corvette Stoyky, the medium sea tanker Kola and the sea tug Yakov Grebelsky went to sea from the permanent base — Baltiysk — to perform the planned tasks of a long-distance campaign on December 16, 2020.
