Tank Biathlon kicks off in Alabino

The most spectacular competition of the International Army Games - Tank Biathlon begins today. This competition became the ancestor of the Games. In 2013, for the first time, the teams of four countries (Russia, Armenia, Belarus and Kazakhstan) met at the Alabino training ground and determined the best national team among tank crews. Having won for the first time in 2013, the Russian team invariably became the winner of the competition 8 times.

This year, 19 teams will take part in Tank Biathlon, which are divided into 2 subgroups.

There are 11 teams in the first subgroup: winners and prize-winners of 2020: Russia, China, Belarus, - as well as the teams that showed the best results in previous years: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Serbia, Venezuela, Syria and the winner of the 2nd division 2020 of the year - the national team of Vietnam.

The second subgroup included the national teams of Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Tajikistan, Myanmar, Qatar, South Ossetia, Abkhazia and the national team of Mali, participating in the competition for the first time.

In this stage, 3 crews participate from each team (with the exception of the Mali national team, represented by one crew). A total of 55 crews are involved in the stage.

Today, in the first race of the first subgroup, the teams of Russia, Uzbekistan and China will start; the national teams of Laos, Kyrgyzstan, Mali and Myanmar will start the first race of the second subgroup.

Based on the results of individual races, the best tank crew and winners of the Tank Biathlon 2021 competition will be determined.

Also, according to the results of the first stage, the semifinal relay races will be formed, which will be held on August 31 and September 1. On September 3 and 4, the final relay races of the competition will take place, based on the results of which the best teams will be determined.

The winner of the second subgroup will be eligible to compete in the first subgroup in 2022.
