Russian paratroopers at the training grounds in Belarus during the JSE Zapad-2021 use the latest mobile security systems for military facilities
The personnel of the Pskov airborne assault unit taking part in the joint strategic exercise Zapad-2021, after making a combined march from the point of permanent deployment to the Obuz-Lesnovsky training ground in the Republic of Belarus, located in a new concentration area, where they took control of their area of responsibility.
Having equipped and camouflaged the area of the troops ' location, the paratroopers carried out a set of measures for additional reconnaissance of the area of upcoming actions and worked out a number of introductory elements for the comprehensive support of Airborne troops units.
The personnel deployed security posts, organized patrolling of the location area. For the first time, a rapidly deployable autonomous complex Perimeter-S is used for the protection of objects in the field, which is included in the set of technical security equipment Streletc, which allows preventing unauthorized entry into the protected area.
For the patrol service, the complex includes watches-bracelets of the remote security system, which allow transmitting information about emergency situations during patrolling the route via a secure communication channel to the remote control of the head of the guard.
The Perimeter is equipped with observation posts, the personnel of which have worked out a set of tasks for monitoring the radiation, chemical and biological situation in the area of the troops ' location.
In order to monitor the air situation and organize the cover of control points from the means of air attack of a mock enemy, the regular air defence unit deployed observation posts with crews of portable Igla anti-aircraft missile systems.
The JSE of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus takes place every two years in accordance with the decision taken by the heads of the two states.
The Zapad-2021 exercise is the final stage of joint training of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation this year.
Practical actions of the troops (forces) will be held in the period from September 10 to 16 at nine training grounds located on the territory of the Russian Federation, in the Baltic Sea, as well as at five training grounds of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.
In total, up to 200 thousand military personnel will take part in the JSE Zapad-2021 on the territory of Russia and Belarus, about 80 aircraft and helicopters, up to 760 units of military equipment, including 290 tanks, 240 guns, multiple rocket launchers and mortars, as well as up to 15 ships will be involved.
The maximum number of personnel involved in the exercise of military units subject to the Vienna Document of 2011 on Confidence-and Security-building measures on the territory of the Russian Federation will not exceed 6.4 thousand military personnel.
The return of the military authorities and troops to the points of permanent deployment after participating in the exercise is planned until mid-October.
