EMD servicemen crossed the state border of Russia and Mongolia to participate in the international exercise Selenga-2021
The first military echelon with military equipment and servicemen of the motorized rifle unit of the Eastern Military District stationed in the Republic of Buryatia crossed the state border of Russia and Mongolia at the railway checkpoint of the village of Naushki to participate in the annual Russian-Mongolian exercise Selenga-2021.
The joint Russian-Mongolian military exercise will take place on the territory of Mongolia, at the Doityn Am training ground in the suburbs of Ulaan-baatar.
The Selenga exercise is aimed at combating international terrorism. During the exercise, the military personnel of the two countries, using various tactical techniques of modern combat, eliminate mock illegal armed formations.
Last year, despite the difficult sanitary and epidemiological situation caused by the spread of COVID-19, the joint exercise was held for the first time in a remote format, where each of the parties performed tasks at their training grounds. Then an operational group of military specialists of the Armed Forces of Mongolia arrived in Russia at the Burduny training ground to organize the planning of joint actions and the organization of interaction between units.
This year, the international exercise will involve units of a motorized rifle unit of the combined arms army of the Eastern Military District, stationed in the Republic of Buryatia with a total number of over 600 people and more than 100 units of military equipment.
