The head of the Russian military department recalled that, in accordance with the decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council, on January 9, the collective peacekeeping forces of the CSTO completed deployment on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In a short time — in just three days — the aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces transferred personnel and equipment.

The Defence Minister also added that the pilots of military transport aviation once again demonstrated their high professionalism and readiness to perform tasks that suddenly arise.

Currently, the CSTO peacekeeping forces are performing tasks to protect important military, state and socially significant facilities on the territory of Kazakhstan.

"In addition, the Ministry of Defence has organized the return flights of Russian citizens. Those people who have expressed a desire to travel to the territory of Russia are provided with vehicles and are naturally delivered to the departure airports and transported to the territory of Russia," the head of the military department said. - In just three days, 1,719 people were transported. We continue this work."

Sergei Shoigu stressed that the tasks of the collective peacekeeping forces will be carried out until the situation in the Republic of Kazakhstan is fully stabilized. And naturally by the decision of the leadership of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"All measures to combat covid have been carried out in full. The number of cases has decreased. Nevertheless, due to the appearance of a new omicron strain, it is necessary to take a number of additional measures to protect personnel," said General of the Army Sergei Shoigu.

Sergei Shoigu also instructed to strictly observe the established restrictions during daily activities and mass events, as well as to ensure the planned rates of re-vaccination of personnel in accordance with approved schedules.

The operational headquarters needs to continue working to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the troops.
