Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu checked the production of Russia's first special drone factory
Today, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu inspected Russia's first specialized factory for the production of large-size military UAVs, which the Kronstadt company built in Dubna, near Moscow. Denis Manturov, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Andrey Vorobyov, the Governor of the Moscow region, also got acquainted with the new production. They were shown the capacity of the plant and the stages of the production process of unmanned aerial vehicles of the aircraft type.
In the polymer-composite materials workshop, Sergey Bogatikov, General Director of Kronstadt JSC, reported to the Minister on the process of creating parts from composites. Up to 90% of the UAVs manufactured by the company use parts made of polymer-composite materials.
In the final assembly shop of the UAV, the head of the department was presented with Orion reconnaissance and strike drones delivered to the troops in varying degrees of readiness.
In addition, as part of the promising programs of the Kronstadt company, Sergei Shoigu was informed about the new Sirius unmanned complex contracted by the ministry, the Helios-RLD radar patrol UAV, and the Grom high-speed strike drone.
As the head of the military department said, there "should be specialists of a fairly high class. Here, electroplating, engines, maintenance, life cycle contracts, there must be an enterprise that will carry out expeditionary services, meaning field services - where we have military units stationed with a large number of drones. They have to arrive there, service."
At the same time, the Minister stressed that appropriate conditions should be created for all these specialists, including in terms of housing provision.
The Minister assessed the drone production created by Kronstadt in Dubna as good.
