The joint Russian-Belarusian exercise Union Courage-2022 has begun in Belarus
Today, the joint Russian-Belarusian exercise Union Courage–2022 began at the combined arms ranges of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus as part of the second stage of the infection of the reaction forces of the Union State.
The exercise is conducted in order to work out the tasks of suppressing and repelling external aggression during a defensive operation, as well as countering terrorism and protecting the interests of the Union State.
During the exercise, measures will be carried out at the Domanovsky, Gozhsky, Obuz-Lesnovsky, Brestsky and Osipovichi ranges, as well as in certain areas of the territory of the Republic of Belarus to strengthen the protection of the state border to prevent the infiltration of armed groups of militants, to block the channels of delivery of weapons and ammunition, to search, block, destroy illegal armed formations and sabotage and reconnaissance groups of a mock enemy. The airfields of Baranovichi, Luninets, Lida and Machulishchi will also be involved in the exercise.
The exercise, which will last until February 20, involved command bodies, units and military units of the Eastern Military District and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus. The number of participants in the event, as well as the number of main weapons systems subject to the Vienna Document of 2011, do not exceed the parameters defined by it, which are subject to notification.
In accordance with the decision of the Presidents of Russia and Belarus, adopted in December last year, the reaction forces of the Union State are being checked on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
During the first stage of the inspection of the reaction forces of the Union State, the troops relocated and created groups of troops (forces) in the threatened areas, organized the protection of important state and military facilities, strengthened the protection of the state border in the airspace within the framework of the unified regional air defence system of Belarus and Russia.
Also, during the first stage of the inspection, control classes on fire training and other training subjects were conducted with units and military units of the Eastern Military District and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus. As part of the combat coordination at various training grounds, the troops worked out the issues of conducting defence and combating illegal armed formations.
The control bodies and military units of the Eastern Military District are involved in the inspection on the territory of the Republic of Belarus from the Russian Federation, which in a short time regrouped over a distance of about 10 thousand kilometers.
During the regrouping of the Russian unit to the territory of the Republic of Belarus, the capabilities of the transport infrastructure to ensure the transportation of troops (forces) were assessed.
