Pacific Fleet's detachment repels mock enemy air attack in East China Sea
The Pacific Fleet's destroyer detachment comprising the flagship of the Pacific Fleet and the Guards Order of Nakhimov Varyag missile cruiser and the Marshal Shaposhnikov frigate conducted a training exercise to repel air attacks of the mock enemy in the waters of the East China Sea.
During the exercise, the crews detected several air targets flying on a course towards the ships. On the missile cruiser and frigate, electronic warfare equipment was activated with active and passive jamming. The ships performed target acquisition and took them on escort.
When mock enemy aircraft entered the target zone, the Guards Order of Nakhimov Varyag missile cruiser and the Marshal Shaposhnikov frigate destroyed air targets with anti-aircraft missile systems.
The aviation of the mock enemy during the exercise was simulated electronically. There was no actual firing of the anti-aircraft missile system.
The exercise was conducted in accordance with the plan of activities ot the Pacific Fleet's destroyer detachment in the Asia-Pacific region.
