Russian-Turkish Armistice Control Center opened in Azerbaijan

A joint Russian-Turkish centre to control the ceasefire and all hostilities in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has opened in the area of Kiyamaddinli settlement  (Aghdam region of Azerbaijan). 

The Center will collect, compile and verify information on the observance of the ceasefire regime and on actions that violate the agreements reached by the parties. Monitoring will be carried out through the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as the assessment of data obtained from other sources.

 Deputy Minister of Defence of Russia Colonel-General Alexander Fomin, Minister of Defence of Azerbaijan Colonel-General Zakir Asker Oglu Hasanov and Deputy Minister of National Defence of Turkey Yunus Emre Karaosmanoglu took part in the opening ceremony of the Russian-Turkish centre. 

The Joint Russian-Turkish Centre for Controlling the Ceasefire in the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict Zone was opened near the Kiyamaddinli settlement in accordance with a memorandum signed by the heads of the Russian and Turkish defence departments on November 11, 2020. 

The personnel of the Joint Centre is represented on a parity basis - up to 60 military personnel from each side. The centre has direct lines of communication with the military command bodies of the parties to the conflict and the headquarters of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
