At the Ashuluk training ground, foreign military attaches were shown combat capabilities of the Russian S-400 Triumph air defence systems and Pantsir-S air defence missile systems
About 80 representatives of the military and diplomatic corps from 52 countries of the CIS, Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America, accredited in Russia, attended the demonstration of the features of the organization of air defence. Here, officers of foreign states were shown the combat capabilities of the S-400 Triumph long-range anti-aircraft missile systems, as well as the Pantsir-S short-range anti-aircraft missile and gun systems for detecting and destroying air targets.
During the drawing of a tactical episode, consisting of three stages, the foreign military attaches were shown the peculiarities of organizing air defence to repel a missile and air strike of a mock enemy. Combat crews of the S-400 air defence missile system and the Pantsir-S air defence missile system detected and destroyed all target missiles imitating aerodynamic, operational-tactical, tactical ballistic targets, cruise missiles, and ground targets.
The day before, as part of the event, a briefing was held in Astrakhan, during which the head of the Centre for Combat Training and Combat Use of the Aerospace Forces, Major General Alexei Radko, told the foreign military attaché about the peculiarities of the centre's activities. Colonel Alexei Litvinov, a representative of the Yaroslavl Higher Military School of Air Defence, acquainted the military attaches of foreign countries with the specifics and possibilities of training foreign military personnel in the specialties of air defence at the school.
In addition to the official program, the military attaches were introduced to the sights of the Astrakhan Kremlin and other cultural and historical sites of Astrakhan.
The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation regularly invites representatives of the military-diplomatic corps of foreign states to various events.
In 2020, foreign military diplomats attended over 20 events. The largest of them are the International Army Games 2020, the ARMY 2020 International Military and Technical Forum, the final stage of the Kavkaz 2020 strategic command post exercise, and a briefing by General of the Army Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The event is planned and is being held with the aim of increasing the transparency of the activities of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
