Sergei Dronov

Biography

Born on 11 August 1962 in Almazovka, Voroshilovograd region.

Graduated from the V.M. Komarov Higher Military Aviation School in Yeisk (1983), the Gagarin Air Force Academy (1992) and the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (2007).

He served as a pilot, wing commander, deputy squadron commander, squadron commander, regimental commander, deputy division commander, commander of a mixed air force division, deputy commander of air force and air defence formation, commander of air force and air defence formation, deputy commander of the Air Forces, and deputy commander Aerospace Forces.

He is a distinguished military pilot of the Russian Federation.

He has been awarded two Orders of Courage, the Order of the Red Star, the Order for Military Merit, the Order of Zhukov and departmental medals.

He is qualified as a sniper pilot. The total flight time exceeds 2,000 hours. He has mastered more than ten types of aircraft, including Su-24M frontline bombers and An-72 transport aircraft.
