5th Defenders of Friendship 2021 joint exercise of Russian and Egyptian paratroopers ends near Cairo
The fifth joint tactical exercise of Russian and Egyptian paratroopers Defenders of Friendship 2021, which took place on October 17, with the participation of the military transport aviation of the two countries, ended near Cairo.
The closing ceremony was held at the base of the airborne troops of the Arab Republic of Egypt near Inshas city, 60 km east of the Egyptian capital.
The commanders of the Russian Airborne Troops, Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov, and the Airborne Troops of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Divisional General Atyf Ibrahim Mady, took part in it, who congratulated the servicemen on the successful completion of the exercise, thanking them for their high professional skills.
Defenders of Friendship joint Russian-Egyptian tactical exercise is being held for the fifth time this year.
For the first time, Russian and Egyptian paratroopers practiced joint tactical actions near Alexandria city of the Arab Republic of Egypt in 2016.
In 2017, joint exercises were held in the Krasnodar Territory on the basis of the Novorossiysk airborne assault mountain formation of the Airborne Troops.
In 2018, in Egypt, participants in a joint exercise practiced their skills at the paratrooper training ground near Cairo.
In 2019, for the first time, servicemen of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus took part in joint exercise. The joint exercises were held at Dubrovichi training ground of the Tula Guards Airborne Troops in the Ryazan region.
