The monument to the soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War was restored by Russian servicemen and residents of the village Nyuragyukh
By the initiative of the Russian peacekeepers, an action on improvment of the monuments dedicated to the Great Patriotic War soldiers is being held in Nagorno-Karabakh. This action is held by the Humanitarian Response Center of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh jointly with the administrations of Mardakert, Martuni and Askeran districts.
In the village Nyragyukh, where the servicemen of the Humanitarian Response Center of the Russian peacekeeping contingent (RPC) arrived with such a noble mission, the monument was erected in 60s of the past century. More than 90 men from this village, who were sent to the frontlines sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the Soviet people.
Russian peacekeepers jointly with residents of the village Nyragyukh conducted restoration of the monument, painted the fence, cleared the surrounding area and the monument itself.
"Such an mission appeared in connection with the poor state of the monuments located on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, which require the restoration", the Head of the Humanitarian Response Center Igor Sivakov said. "Further more this action will last till 76th anniversary of the Great Victory", he added.
In total the Humanitarian Response Center was registered 58 monuments on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, which are dedicated to the soldiers who died at the front lines in 1941-1945. Currently, the restoration works are completed for 29 of them.
In accordance with the agreements specified in the joint statement of the President of the Russian Federation, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, from 00:00 Moscow time on November 10, 2020, a complete ceasefire and all hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh were announced.
To monitor the ceasefire and military operations, a peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation is being deployed in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.
The basis of the Russian peacekeeping contingent consists of units of the 15th separate motorized rifle brigade (peacekeeping) of the Central Military District.
