Russian sappers arrived in the area of tasks in Laos
Servicemen of the International Mine Action Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation arrived to conduct humanitarian demining in the Nakai district of Khammuan province of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
During the event, the commander of the mine clearance unit of the International Mine Action Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation identified areas for cleaning from explosive objects.
Russian sappers will have to perform mine clearance tasks both in the jungle and in settlements where unexploded ordnance from half a century ago still threatens local residents.
To perform the tasks, the detachment is equipped with modern means of searching for explosive objects and individual protection of the sapper, equipped with a cooling system.
In accordance with the decision of the President of the Russian Federation to assist in the demining of the territory in the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation sent a mine clearance detachment of the International Mine Action Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the number of 31 military personnel.
