Russian military engineers will train local sappers in Laos
The servicemen of the International Mine Action Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, who arrived to conduct humanitarian demining in the Nakai district of Khammuan province of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, deployed a branch of the center and began training Lao servicemen.
Specialists of the IMAC of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will prepare 30 Lao sappers who will undergo theoretical and practical training using Russian means of searching and protecting a sapper.
The training of military personnel of the Lao People's Army is carried out under the program Organization of reconnaissance and cleaning of terrain (objects) from explosive objects. Among the academic disciplines are Means of searching for explosive objects and protection of a sapper, Ammunition and means of destruction, Demolition and International Mine action standards.
Both military sergeants and officers representing various units of the engineering troops of the national army are trained, including teachers of military educational institutions: the military academy Commadam and the School of Sergeants.
Such training courses for sappers in Laos are being held for the fourth time, starting in 2018. During this time, 69 military personnel of the engineering troops of Laos have been trained.
In accordance with the decision of the President of the Russian Federation to assist in the demining of the territory in the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation sent a mine clearance detachment of the International Mine Action Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the number of 31 servicemen.
