Detachment of ships of the Northern Fleet completed a business call to Algeria
Today a detachment of ships and support vessels of the Northern Fleet, led by the frigate Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov, completed a business call at the port city of Algeria, the capital of the state of the same name in North Africa.
In addition to the frigate, the ocean rescue tug Nikolay Chiker also entered the foreign port.
In the future, a detachment of ships of the Northern Fleet will continue to move along the Mediterranean Sea in an easterly direction.
In accordance with the program of the business call, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Algerian People's Democratic Republic Igor Belyaev met with the Russian sailors.
The day before, on January 19, the Russian military delegation also made a protocol visit to the command of the Central Naval Region of the Algerian Navy.
During their stay in the foreign port, the frigate and the rescue tug of the Northern Fleet replenished supplies of fresh water and food, the sailors were given time to rest.
For the crew of the frigate, this is the first visit to a foreign port since the beginning of the campaign. In the future, it will make several more business calls to the ports of the Mediterranean region.
The Russian ship visits Algeria and other countries in order to maintain international naval cooperation.

"Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov" is a Russian multi-purpose frigate of Project 22350 with guided-missile weapons of the far sea and ocean zone. .
The ship is assigned to the Northern Fleet missile ships division, the largest formation of surface ships of the Russian Navy, which currently includes two frigates of this project.
